Hey phpFox Family,
We’ve got some important news to share with our Version 4 holders. First and foremost, we want to thank you for being with us on this journey and for building such incredible platforms on phpFox. We know many of you have put time and effort into creating a digital space where people connect, share, and grow, and we’re grateful to have been a part of your journey.
Since the release of MetaFox, we have offered active support for the V4 product as a paid service. Today, we officially announce that effective December 31st, 2024, phpFox v4 will transition to legacy status. This decision wasn’t taken lightly, and we want to be transparent about why we’re making this change and how it may affect you.
Why is Support for v4 Ending?
phpFox is committed to keeping up with rapid technological advancements and continuously improving our products to meet modern standards. As you know, the tech world is always moving forward, and so are we. To maintain our commitment to providing secure, high-performing, and innovative products, our focus has shifted toward phpFox v5, also known as MetaFox.
It’s been over two years since we officially launched MetaFox, which now comes packed with new features, optimized performance, and everything needed to make managing and creating a social platform easier than ever. By moving ongoing support forward with MetaFox, we’re able to dedicate our resources and expertise to a product line that fully leverages the latest technology to meet today’s demands for social networking platforms.
With these advancements, we decided to end support for V4 at the beginning of 2024. phpFox V4 has now been designated as a legacy product, and official support for it has been discontinued.

How to upgrade?
Upgrading to MetaFox is easy with just two main steps. Follow these to make your upgrade smooth:
- Step 1: Renew Your License
To upgrade to V5, you’ll need to purchase the Annual renewal. This renewal costs 25% of the MetaFox license, ensuring you have full access to the web’s source code, full web features, updates, and support.
Important note: Starting January 1st, 2025, annual renewals will no longer be available for V4 users. To upgrade to V5, V4 license holders will need to purchase a new V5 license. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and upgrade before the new policy comes into effect.
